The Society's Constitutional Preamble states our purpose:

We the Undersigned, desiring to secure the pleasures and benefits of an association of persons interested in amateur astronomy; to promote the science of astronomy; to encourage and coordinate activities of amateur astronomical societies; to foster observational and computational work, and craftsmanship in various fields of astronomy; and to correlate amateur activities with professional research, do hereby organize and constitute ourselves the Southern Maryland Astronomical Society, a non-profit organization.

SMAS is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization. Donations and membership dues constitute the funding SMAS receives and may be mailed to Southern Maryland Astronomical Society, P.O. Box 373, Marbury, MD 20658 or submitted via PayPal by clicking the "Pay Dues or Donate" image below:

The Fine Print

SMAS respects your right to privacy. The information that you send on this membership form will not be sold, nor shared, with any outside agency. The information will be given only to the Board of Directors for purposes of contacting you about SMAS and its future activities. If you choose to join SMAS, upon receiving your dues, the information will be added to the general membership roster. A copy of the roster is available upon request.
